BAS's Membership in National and International Organizations

Union of Bulgarian Medical Professionals

Among the main objectives are

  • carrying out activities aimed at achieving and maintaining a high level of professional qualification among physicians and other professionals with higher education who work in the field of medicine, coordinating,
  • supporting activities carried out by specialized medical societies and associations;
  • cooperation between the Union and its members with international medical organizations and related organizations abroad—to ensure the swiftest possible transfer of medical advances from other countries to Bulgaria and to promote Bulgarian medical science in other countries.

International Federation of Associations of Anatomists (IFAA)

IFAA's goals are

  • Promoting the development of all anatomical or biomorphological sciences;
  • To promote and enhance scientific, technological, educational, and administrative exchanges among anatomists worldwide;
  • To provide general guidelines for educational, technological, and scientific purposes, as well as for matters of general interest in the anatomical sciences;
  • Coordinating and supporting the preparation, review, and publication of documents on the terminology of the anatomical sciences and biomorphology;
  • Promoting friendship and cooperation among members of anatomical associations.
  • Promoting the organization of international scientific conferences, symposia, and other meetings in the field of morphological sciences.

European Microscopy Society

The European Society for Microscopy consists of individual and corporate members. Any microscopist, regardless of whether they are a member of a national microscopy society in Europe, is eligible for membership in the European Society for Microscopy. Any company that manufactures and/or sells products used in the field of microscopy may become a corporate member.

International Federation of Societies for Microscopy (IFSM)

The goal of the International Federation of Societies for Microscopy (IFSM) is to contribute to the advancement of microscopy in all its aspects. It includes societies from around the world. The federation’s most important activity is sponsoring scientific meetings on microscopy. The International Microscopy Congress (IMC) is held every four years.

European Federation for Experimental Morphology (EFEM)

  • EFEM was founded in 1989 in Nancy, France.
  • EFEM brings together scientific societies and groups in Europe that are active in the morphological sciences (particularly the anatomical sciences) or related fields.
  • Its member societies are national or regional organizations representing scientists working in the field of experimental morphology.
  • EFEM promotes the exchange and dissemination of information among European anatomical societies. In this way, it facilitates the organization of joint meetings of anatomical societies.
  • EFEM promotes the exchange of doctoral students and encourages the participation of young researchers in morphological conferences by awarding travel grants.
  • EFEM's philosophy is focused on promoting anatomy as a modern and innovative science.
